Johan van Vlietstraat

Situated in the historical center of Haarlem, this family house has been extended by adding a extra layer on the existing roof with generous windows, black roof tiles, zinc dormer window and a French balcony.
The realization of a roof extension is a logical way to increase the surface of the house.  Beside the extra space this roof extension integrates also a “room with a view” where the family can enjoy until the end of the day the beautiful panorama of the old city and the last sunbeam.
The extension is composed of two large bedrooms.  One of the bedroom has a bathroom integrated.  The rooms are connected through the staircase of the house where a light chimney is filling the space with natural light and ventilation.  The generous height of this roof extension offers the possibility to build storage and a extra mezzanine in the bedroom.
