Metis International Garden Festival

The Metis International Garden Festival is recognized as the largest event of its kind in North America and one of the world’s leading garden festivals. Since 2000, some 900,000 people have discovered around a hundred gardens designed by more than 220 creators from some fifteen countries.

We are pleased our projet made it until the pre-selection in the last 30 designs but unfortunate hasn’t been selected to be realized in 2018.   We are actually looking for another Festival to realized this beautiful project in Europe.

Have a look at our proposal here

We propose to Les Jardins de Métis to make a giant model of the Parthenon built with a hundred bales of hay. Inspired by the creation of the popular German pedagogue Friedrich Fröbel in the 19th century, the box of blocks is an educational program of the most effective awakening by the play of children aged three to six years. Like a trip back in time, the color of the straw is reminiscent of the ocher stone of the ruins and the refined volumes of Fröbel’s wooden blocks. The dimensions of the cylindrical and rectangular straw volumes correspond to half of the dimensions of the Parthenon and respect these rules of classical composition. The use of hay bales as building materials and plants selected for the native plant floor refer to the ubiquitous agroculture present in the area. In the heart of the aligned straw columns, a sensation of monumental intimacy consists in creating a spatial contrast during the visitors’ walk. Kids and adults alike can interact with smaller hay bales randomly placed in the center of the garden.

Final presentation TU Delft

Last Friday was the final presentation of my first year students from architecture school @TU Delft.  The commission was to design a house with B&B integrated in a typical Dutch landscape:  grass field and wind meals.  Interesting and very different proposals…

Our office design in commercial

Have a look how green, human and spacious this interior designed by Atelier Robidoux is after one year being in use already!  Openr, a digital alarm system compagny used the office space  for a commercial to promote and brand their service.

Rotterdam told by Atelier Robidoux on Canadian TV

Last year I participated to a Canadian documentary `Et si Montréal était…`  The astonishing result is to be seen right now on TV right here.

“Montreal, today faces the same problems as the big cities of the world: urban congestion, housing, environment, security and creativity. If Montreal were Chicago, Oslo, Manchester, Rotterdam or Singapore, what urban lessons could Withdraw to become an original pole of attraction? Five city dwellers from these cities respond.”

Office interior design phase 1 delivered

Very proud of our team for this achievement !

Within 12 weeks only, a custom made design for the interior for the Amsterdam Headquarter of the IT office has been set up and meanwhile a complete team of specific building professionals has been managed.

We visited this beautiful industrial space earlier in April and now the office is ready to be used!  The first employees will start using the space next week.

New steel façade is delivered

Exciting early Tuesday morning in Rotterdam with the crane crew and the steel framed façade builders.  Within an hour is the puzzle piece coming together.  Impressive about the level of professionalism that we achieve here with a relative small scale architectural intervention.
